KRAIBURG TPE Earns Gold Medal From Ecovadis For Outstanding Sustainability Performance

Following several awards for the individual sites in Germany, Malaysia and the USA in previous years, KRAIBURG TPE has been awarded a gold medal as an overall company for the first time by the renowned assessment company EcoVadis 2025. KRAIBURG TPE is therefore not only one of the highest rated companies within the plastics industry, but also occupies a top position in the overall sustainability ranking of EcoVadis.

One of the biggest sustainability rating systems in the world, EcoVadis has about three million audited and 150,000 rated businesses. With its extensive reach, the Paris-based company provides its clients with a thorough database on the fundamental subjects of ethics, sustainable procurement, labor and human rights, and the environment, allowing for benchmarked comparisons between businesses. EcoVadis assigns its distinctions using a percentage key once the necessary data and supporting documentation have been submitted. A corporation must rank in the top 35 percent of the listed companies to win a bronze medal, in the top 15 percent for silver, and in the top 5 percent for gold.

“The special role that sustainability plays in our company is already reflected in our strategic positioning,” says Oliver Zintner, CEO of KRAIBURG TPE, commenting on the EcoVadis award: “We have recently defined sustainability as one of our six core competencies, once again underlining the prominent role that sustainability issues play in our company.”

Oliver Zintner: “Of course, I am particularly pleased that we achieved gold at the first attempt in the first company-wide EcoVadis rating of all locations. However, despite my delight at the gold medal, I see the award as the natural result of a continuously developing improvement process that we have established in our company. Praise for this is due to all departments in the company that have supported and continue to support this process with consistently high levels of commitment. They have all played their part in this success!”

They pronounced initiative in the area of sustainability is part of the DNA of the company, which was founded in 2001; this is reflected in the company’s almost 25-year history. Between the certification of the ISO 14001 environmental management system in 2002 and the ISO 15001 energy management system (2013), the company produced its first TPEs with recycled content as early as 2010. Further sustainability measures – such as the installation of PV systems and the establishment of a charging infrastructure for cars on the company premises – were implemented in step with continuous process improvements. In 2021, an initial assessment was carried out as part of the Carbon Disclosure Project. This was followed in 2023 by successful ISCC PLUS certification and the initiation of the “Climate Program 2031”. Based on the SBTI guidelines, this program aims to reduce the company’s Scope 1 and Scope 2 CO2e emissions by 46.2% by 2031 and Scope 3 CO2e emissions by 27.5%. In spring 2024, both KRAIBURG TPE GmbH & Co. KG and KRAIBURG Holding SE & Co. KG signed the United Nations Global Compact.
